Biography

Allen is married to wife of 40 years Beverly Nielson Andersen Andersen Family
  • Children: Camille, Darlene (Gary), Elaine, Frederic (Jodi), Gregory (Emily)
  • Grandchildren: Emily, Melissa, Jordan, Brandon, Aidan, Mason
Allen was born to Willard J. Andersen and Mamie Andersen in Pocatello in 1943 and grew up on the family farm in Arbon Valley and Pocatello.
  • Allen has three brothers, Jack, David and Lynn. He has two sisters, Patsy and Julia Dee.

Education

  • Attended grade school and high school in Pocatello - graduated from Pocatello High School 1962
  • Served in the Army Security Agency 1968 - Honorably discharged 29 February 1972 Rank of Specialist 5 E-5 MOS: Electronic Warfare Operator-Analyst; French translator
  • Attended Ricks College and Idaho State University Graduated from Idaho State University 5/28/1971 - Bachelor of Science degree Mathematics, Minor: French Teaching Certification in Mathematics and French
  • Post graduate: Master of Science in Secondary Education - Mathematics

Professional and Community Activities

  • Religion: Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
  • Filled a LDS Mission in France-Belgium 1963-1965
  • Served as President of the Pocatello Education Association
  • Employed by the Idaho Education Association from 1979 to 2003 as IEA Region 5 Director
  • Certified Arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau servicing Eastern Idaho/Western Wyoming
  • Certified with the National Education Association as a Mediator
  • Taught Junior High School Mathematics and Science; High School Mathematics Coached Football, Girls and Boys Basketball, Wrestling
  • Served as adjunct faculty member at Idaho State University
  • Received Jay Cee's Outstanding Educator Award 1978
