“You get up every day and work hard to build a better life for yourself and your family. Your Idaho – and mine – is a place where that hard work pays off. As your voice in the Idaho House, I'll make sure it's never ‘Business as usual’ when it comes to protecting your interests against those of out-of-state corporations and the individuals who would sell off Idaho's public lands. Together, we can keep southeast Idaho your Idaho” — Allen Andersen
Picture an Idaho....
...where support for public and higher education comes in a distant second to short-term, bottom-line interests.
...where the sunshine and open-door laws are ignored, and decisions that affect all of us are made in private by a small number of insiders.
...where our public lands are sold - forever taken away from me and you, for whom they were to be a permanent trust - to serve short-term Federal interests, without any thought to permanently solving the problems for which the money is being spent.
...and where local control over a significant part of school district funding is taken away from patrons to benefit big business and out-of-state property owners.
Is this the picture of your Idaho? I didn't think so. It's not my Idaho, either.
That's why I've decided to run again for the District 29 House seat I formerly occupied. I believe there's a place for moderate and independent thinkers in the state legislature, individuals who aren't afraid to raise the banner of common sense and fairness, when too many around them are "going along to get along." Sometimes it can make just enough difference to keep the interests of a majority of Idahoans from being completely derailed.
I've enjoyed the opportunities we've had in the past to work together, and I hope you agree that my stance on the issues and my voting record demonstrate that I am that kind of moderate, independent and open thinker.
I'm taking this race seriously, and paying attention to my grassroots campaign. I've already knocked on the doors and spoken with the voters in several precincts. I'll get to them all before the election. And I listen to what I'm being told.
And that's what's important - having someone there who'll speak up for the Idaho that you and I, and most of the state's citizens would choose, over the Idaho of special interests.
Also, let me know what Your Idaho is so I can work more effectively for you.
